back in 2022, we sold three serums separately: a hyaluronic acid serum, a vitamin C alternative serum and retinol alternative serum. but we looked at each other on 03/03/23* and thought: how can we claim that we’re simplifying routines?

that day, our highest performance anti-aging serum was born.

enters our triple hyaluronic acid and natural alternative to retinol & vitamin C 3-in-1 serum. loads of 3s in this. what can I say…this is the holy trinity.

fact #1: our basic b*tch serum is made with triple pure hyaluronic acid to give you a major boost of hydration. use three sizes of hyaluronic acid, which isn't often found in retail. this delivers both instant and long-lasting effects, providing instant smoothing and firming effects but also rehydrating cells over time.

fact #2: if you’re not skin obsessed, retinol is basically the holy grail in the skincare world: it smooths fine lines and wrinkles, treats acne, fades dark spots, and brightens dull skin. phew, almost lost my breath there! anyway, retinol has everything to be the messiah, saving us all from skin misery.

well, not quite... retinol is also very harsh, especially if you’ve got dry and sensitive skin.

enters bakuchiol: the plant-based ingredient that mimics the glow-boosting and skin-smoothing effects of retinol, minus the irritating side effects. in short, this stuff is a gentler natural alternative to retinol but still packs a strong punch.

fact #3: after doing more research on ascorbic acid in its dissolvable form for skincare, the fancy word for vitamin C, it turns out the oxidation of ascorbic acid is the same oxidation that turns copper green, apples brown, and metal to rust.

and just like you don't want to eat brown apples, you don't want oxidised vitamin C in your products, or on your skin. plus we don’t want to sell an ingredient that we know doesn’t work after two weeks (and yes, other people do!).

the alternative? sea buckthorn. packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and fatty acids, this little berry is a true powerhouse. it helps to nourish and hydrate your skin, while also protecting it from environmental stressors like pollution and UV damage. plus, its anti-inflammatory properties can help soothe and calm irritated skin.

basic b*tch is also free of potential irritants (like synthetic fragrance and dyes) making it totally safe for allergic, hyper-sensitive skin.

you get it now, we called it basic b*tch because it’s everything BUT basic.

Harriet, our accountant, calls it a financial suicide. apparently, a formula with this many different molecular weights and botanical active ingredients would start at £250…

our PR team is begging us to drop it. they called it the ‘wikileaks of skincare’. it’s like we went rogue on our very own industry. blatantly against this unwritten rule between all the skincare companies: selling individual products that can be mixed into one for the sake of making more money.

BBC news said it is to the skincare industry what Robespierre was to the French revolution. even our bosses are hiding on Necker Island until things calm down.*

more deets on this? sure.

as skin ages, it becomes thirsty and dry since its ability to retain water drops. them fine lines be poppin’. collagen is mainly made of water and this is the stuff that keeps your skin looking youthful. so when you apply basic b*tch, it re-hydrates your skin, leaving it plump and free of wrinkles.

the other non basic part is that we added bakuchiol and sea buckthorn. they’re both natural alternatives to vitamin C and retinol, which can be irritating. they’re also anti-inflammatory and help with redness and irritation from environmental stimuli. we also added 2% vitamin B5, a humectant that attracts moisture and holds water in the skin, allowing the skin to produce moisture and hydrate from within. triple trouble I say.

oh, I also read a fancy paper saying that sea buckthorn is the richest source of vitamin C, with ascorbic acid content of up to 2500 mg%. that’s like, a lot.

so if you’re looking for an anti-aging serum that, I don’t know, really works, then basic b*tch is yours to take.

disclaimer/ this product is not intended for oral use and has high potential to start a skincare revolution.

although it contains oils, we created a formula that can blend with our three molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to avoid using one gel-like serum and two oil-based products.

in simpler terms, we took light up, got it like that and basic b*tch and found a way to incorporate them all together.

mum’s right: oil-to-milk cleanser with hemp & borage oil.

glow the f*ck up - plumping, soothing, pore shrinking toner.

basic b*tch - triple hyaluronic acid + natural alternative to retinol & vitamin C serum.

not a one night stand - buckthorn + AHA regenerative night cream.

+ remove the pump.
+ rinse out the bottle.
+ gently pull the tube out of the pump (gently!)
+ pop the bottle and tube in your recycling bin.
+ unfortunately, the rest of the pump will not be recycled due to its multiple material composition and small size.

Love madeby before and even more now!

Been using these products when madebysunday first launched and I tried almost everything in the line and I was always impressed. The quality is still amazing and I love the new blue bottles! I’ve wanted to go more natural with skincare ingredients when I realised nothing else worked for my combo skin which is prone to occasional breakouts. But since trying these products they have improved my skin so much! This product is a genius idea because I used basic b*tch and the other two serums which is combined in this one all separately before so I liked them all individually but I think it’s so much more convenient and less time consuming to have them all in one.

Genuinely magic in a bottle

I didn’t even know what hydration was until I started using this baby. My gosh, what an absolute game changer. It’s so hydrating, it plumps up your fine lines and makes your cheeks pillowy soft without stickiness. I use it morning and night to really hydrate from within. Genuinely - and I don’t say this often - the products from Made by Sunday are just amazing. I don’t think I will ever be without a bottle of this, or the vitamin c serum, or the boss oil, ever again in my life. You can literally feel how good the quality of the ingredients are on your skin. Thank you!

🧚🏼‍♀️I am glowing angel princess🧚🏼‍♀️

I’m a bit funny when it comes to hyaluronic acid, because sometimes the texture can cause my other products (moisturisers, suncream) to peel or my makeup won’t sit nicely on top. This is THE ONE. The formula glides onto skin, it isn’t sticky or tacky - just smooth. My skin feels instantly hydrated and has improved my pigmentation and texture. Love applying “not a one night stand” before for the ultimate night routine! The only downside is the name basic bitch, whenever I see it I fight so so hard not to be basic with my little iced coffees, but this really is the basic staple you need in your life soooo?? Let the basic bitches live on!
